Leadership (DSL) program and philosophy, as well as the Graduate School of Business and University Resources.

RATIONALE

Students pursuing the Doctor of Strategic Leadership (DSL) will gain knowledge and practical experience in the discipline

MEASURABLE LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

A. Evaluate key knowledge, skills, and resources necessary for success in the DSL program.

B. Assess personal academic and career goals as they relate to the pursuit of a doctoral degree program.

C. Integrate a biblical worldview when exploring issues or topics related to strategic leadership.

Discussion Board Forum(s)

Discussion boards are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each forum. Each thread must be at least 700 words in length and demonstrate a clear understanding of course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student will reply to the threads of at least two classmates.

Each reply must be at least 250 words. Each thread and reply must also include an appropriate number of peer-reviewed source citations in the current APA format, as outlined in the respective Discussion Board rubric.

Time Management Audit

The student will conduct a time management audit throughout seven (7) days (in 30-minute increments) to assess their current schedule to adequately anticipate how the DSL program will affect their current work/life balance.

DSL Program PLO “Self-Assessment”

The student will complete the DSL Program PLO “Self-Assessment”. No preparation is needed. This assessment is used for students to reflect upon the

program’s learning outcomes (PLO) and their self-assessment of competency with each PLO at the beginning of the program.

What You Should Know about BMAL 700

Things just got real. While this is just the starting point of the program, you will quickly realize that you are no longer in Kansas. A doctoral program is a whole different animal.

The most important thing to learn is proper time management and getting accustomed to the discussion board process.

I would highly suggest that you reach out to your instructor right away and introduce yourself, letting them know about any limitations and what they expect in terms of word count, age of sources, formatting for submission, etc.

This blog has been found most useful by students reading it in order. I wrote a post a week to chronicle my time in the entire program, and for the most part, they are tagged by course. For example, here is BMAL 700. I have included a lot of my papers as PDFs. Feel free to use them as a guide.

Bottom Line

This post serves as a guide for students enrolled in the Doctor of Strategic Leadership (DSL) Program at Liberty University, highlighting necessary resources, course expectations, and learning outcomes. It outlines the course description, which focuses on introducing doctoral studies and the program’s philosophy, while emphasizing practical experience and biblical integration within the context of strategic leadership. Students are expected to engage in collaborative learning through discussion boards, conduct a time management audit, and complete a self-assessment of their competencies, which are aligned with the program’s learning outcomes. The post also stresses the importance of time management and encourages students to communicate with instructors regarding course expectations.
