Another course on organizational management, exploring how it fits into a company’s overall leadership and culture. Suppose you are taking these courses in order. In that case, which I suggest, you are about nine months or so into studying organizational behavior. You are probably asking yourself, When are we getting to leadership, already? One thing to keep in mind when developing your concepts and constructs for your project is that the organization may fit into those categories and could even be one of your “actors” for the study.

Assignments

Discussion Board Forums (4)

Discussion boards are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each forum.

Each thread must be 2,100–2,200 words in length and include a minimum of seven sources, in addition to the Bible. The focus of each discussion board is different; refer to the assignment prompts for direction. For each forum, the student will also reply to the threads of 2 classmates. Each reply must be 600–700 words and use at least three peer-reviewed sources. Each thread and reply must integrate at least one biblical principle. Threads and replies must use the current APA format.

Leadership Orientation

The student will complete a short, point scale survey and graph the results to discuss in the Discussion Board Forum 1. The student will apply their results throughout the course.

Personal Case Paper

The student will write a 2,200–2,500-word research-based personal case paper in current APA format focusing on applying the structural frame. The paper must include at least nine references derived from the course readings and personal research.

Case Study Reviews (2)

The student will select one of the provided scenarios and apply the organizational framework from the specified module, along with a review of the topic, incorporating specific reading concepts. Each review must be 800–1,200 words, written in current APA format, with four different references derived from the course readings and personal research (in addition to the Merida textbook and the Bible).

What You Should Know about BMAL 710

This is a fairly challenging course, but brace yourself – the following three courses are even more difficult. Many students will argue that the next ones are the toughest in the entire program. However, if you do it right, you can complete a significant portion of the pre-work for your project, making it easier on your workload when you reach the 800s.

By far, the discussion posts in this course are a huge time commitment. 2100 to 2200 words plus two 700-word replies. That is well over 3000 words each week on top of everything else.

Bottom Line

The post outlines a course on organizational management, focusing on its integration with leadership and company culture. It emphasizes the importance of understanding organizational behavior and structures from various perspectives, including individual and group dynamics.

The course is notably challenging, with significant writing requirements, and is reported to prepare students for future, more difficult coursework. The author has documented their experiences with tips for success.

This blog has been found most useful by students reading it in order. I wrote a post a week to chronicle my time in the entire program, and for the most part, they are tagged by course. For example, here is BMAL 710. I have included a lot of my papers as PDFs. Feel free to use them as a guide.
