For this year’s 31 Nights of Horror Challenge, the Night 15 prompt is Telekinesis. We watched the movie Carrie (2013) on Amazon Prime
Storyline
A shy girl, outcast by her peers and sheltered by her religious mother, unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.
‘Carrie’ delivers strong character development and standout performances, particularly Julianne Moore’s disturbing portrayal of the mother. However, opinions on Chloe Grace Moretz remain divided regarding her casting. The remake struggles with being an unnecessary, derivative copy that lacks distinctive directorial vision and fails to deliver genuine scares. While some appreciate the updated social commentary on bullying and social media, most feel the film doesn’t justify its existence compared to the 1976 classic.
Our thoughts on Carrie (2013)

Trivia
Because Chloë Grace Moretz was a minor, she was limited to eight hours of work per day. When she was unavailable, director Kimberly Peirce substituted; she would be off-screen. This was only done with scenes that Julianne Moore would talk to Carrie.
This is the first screen adaptation where Carrie is played by an actual teenager. Chloë Grace Moretzwas 15 during filming, whereas Sissy Spacek and Angela Bettis, who played the role in Carrie (1976)and Carrie (2002) respectively, were 25 and 28 when they played Carrie.
The film was originally slated to begin with a scene from the novel; a young Carrie wanders into the yard next door and found her teenage neighbor sunbathing. Margaret flies out of their home in a rage and scoops up Carrie, who throws a tantrum and summons a rain of stones. This prologue was also shot for Carrie (1976) and wound up being deleted from both versions. However, this would be added as a flashback in the 2026 release by Mike Flannigan.
In this adaptation, Chris Hargensen is intentionally made up to look overtanned with too much makeup and ratty hair extensions. This was done to suggest that Chris might be subconsciously or secretly jealous of Carrie’s natural beauty.
