The Complete List of Frankenstein Movies

More than 65 films featuring everyone’s favorite movie monster, Frankenstein. This is the preeminent list of films based on the character and many of them I have never seen.

I have added as many links as I could so that you can either watch the films online on Amazon Prime Video or if they are available as Blu-Ray or DVD. Of course, some of these are unavailable in all areas and may require subscriptions to other streaming services other than Amazon Prime.

Frankenstein Movies of 1910s

  1. Frankenstein (Silent)–1910. Frankenstein, a young medical student, trying to create the perfect human being, instead creates a misshapen monster.

Frankenstein Movies of the 1930s

  1. Frankenstein–1931. The one that started it all. Starring Boris Karloff and directed by James Whale. Boris Karloff is the screen’s most memorable creature in the story of Dr. Frankenstein, who tampers with life and death when he pieces together salvaged body parts to create a human monster.
  2. Son of Frankenstein–1939.
  3. Bride of Frankenstein–1935. Boris Karloff reprises his role as the screen’s most misunderstood monster, and Elsa Lanchester stars as his ill-fated bride, in one of the most popular horror classics of all time.

Frankenstein Movies of the 1940s

  1. The Ghost of Frankenstein–1942.
  2. Dracula vs. Frankenstein.
  3. Frankenstein meets the Wolf Man–1943. Hollywood’s best-known monsters–the resurrected Wolf Man (Lon Chaney, Jr.) and Frankenstein’s inhuman creation (Bela Lugosi)–collide in a fight for the ages in this chilling horror film.
  4. House of Frankenstein–1944. A scientist escapes from prison and revives Dracula, Frankenstein & Wolf Man to get revenge on his behalf.
  5. Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein–1948. There’s plenty of hilarious monster mayhem afoot when Abbott and Costello are forced to retrieve Dracula (Bela Lugosi) and the Monster (Glenn Strange) from a secret hideaway island.

  8. Flesh for Frankenstein–1974.
  9. Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell–1974.
  10. Young Frankenstein–1974. Starring Marty Feldman, Danny Goldman, and Liam Dunn. Directed by Mel Brooks. An American grandson of the infamous scientist, struggling to prove that his grandfather was not as insane as people believe, is invited to Transylvania, where he discovers the process that reanimates a dead body.

  3. The Munsters’ Scary Little Christmas–1996.
  4. Frankenstein and Me–1997.
