Bad Remake | 31 Nights of Horror

Storyline

A high school student named Light Turner discovers a mysterious notebook that has the power to kill anyone whose name is written within its pages, and launches a secret crusade to rid the world of criminals.

‘Death Note’ delivers visually striking cinematography and standout performances from Willem Dafoe and Lakeith Stanfield, with an impressive musical score. However, the film disappoints as an adaptation, with reviewers criticizing drastically simplified characters who lost their intelligence and complexity, particularly Light’s transformation from genius to bullied teenager. The writing feels rushed and dumbed-down compared to the source material. Engagement proves divisive, with some entertained while others found it unwatchable, making this primarily appealing to newcomers rather than franchise fans.

Our thoughts on Death Note (2017)

I don’t know where to start but I am sure that all those watched the original anime share my conclusion that those were the worst 1 hr 41 minutes one can ever spend watching a movie, from the very beginning of the movie it was terrible and It wasn’t going anywhere near the anime, they took the story line and turned it into a boring terrible American drama movie. I am not going to say anything more but this movie doesn’t worth wasting your time.

Trivia

Adam Wingard read the “Death Note” manga comic to find a way to translate the story to an American environment: “Death Note is such a Japanese thing. It became about what do these themes mean to modern day America, and how does that affect how we tell the story. What are the things that people chalk up to conspiracy theories? What kind of weird underground programs does the government have? How do those work in the world of Death Note?”
