For this year’s 31 Nights of Horror Challenge, the Night 14 prompt is Sequel You Haven’t Seen. We watched the movie Final Destination Bloodlines on HBO Max.

Storyline

A teenage girl has recurring nightmares of a tower collapse in the 1960s. She discovers that these nightmares are a premonition she inherited from her grandmother. The grandmother predicted the collapse of the building and saved a group of people from death. Decades later, the granddaughter begins to have visions of her family members dying. She realizes that there is a sequence and must fight to prevent Death from reclaiming her family’s bloodline.

Our Thoughts on Final Destination Bloodlines (2025)

Final Destination: Bloodlines’ delivers with inventive death scenes, suspenseful atmosphere, and adherence to the franchise’s core elements. Many appreciate the film’s creative kills, practical effects, and the return of Tony Todd. The storyline, though familiar, is seen as engaging, with some reviewers noting the addition of new lore and character depth. However, some critics point out issues with predictability, CGI quality, and character development. Overall, the film is considered a solid entry in the series, offering entertainment for fans while maintaining the franchise’s signature style.

Trivia

Tony Todd was allowed total creative control over his final scene, since he clearly didn’t have much time left and the crew wanted him to have the final word of his career. His final monologue was one that the crew encouraged him to use to impart some last advice to fans.

In the previous films of the franchise, the producers tried to schedule the filming of a character’s death scene on the actor’s last day of filming. During the making of this film, most of the actors had to film their death scenes on their very first day.

In real life, Owen Patrick Joyner has a deathly peanut allergy, just like his character Bobby.

The house by the train tracks that Iris and Paul drive by in the opening of the film is the same one that Charlie arrives at to pick up his date later in the film.
