25 Horror Christmas Movies Ranked From Worst To Best

When I say “Christmas movie” you probably think of things like Macaulay Culkin, Bing Crosby, and ghosts of Christmas past, right?

Well, GUESS WHAT? Not all holiday films are shiny and bright. Because there’s actually a genre called Christmas Horror and these movies are perfect for anyone who’s more into dreadful frights than silent nights.

And thanks to Rotten Tomatoes, we now have the perfect list of Christmas Horror films, here they are ranked from worst to best:

25. Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 (1987)

In this horror sequel, the younger brother of the murderer in the previous film takes up his sibling’s unfinished business. Dressed up as Santa Claus, the young man goes on a killing spree, murdering the innocent townsfolk in a variety of gory and gruesome ways

24. The Dorm That Dripped Blood (1982)

When a group of college students volunteer to stay in their dorm over break to help out with some work, they soon discover that they are being stalked by a gruesome and innovative killer.

23. Jack Frost (1997)

In this low-budget horror outing, a psychopathic killer loses the last of his warm feelings for humanity after he is involved in a freak accident.

22. ATM (2012)

After leaving their company Christmas Party together, David Hargrove and Emily Brandt’s impromptu first date takes an unexpected turn when their coworker, Corey, asks them to make a late-night stop at an ATM.

21. Black Christmas (2006)

A remake about a group of sorority sisters consisting live in the childhood home of an abused murderer. They find themselves being harassed by threatening and intimidating mystery phone calls during Christmas break.

20. Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)

Tells the tale of Billy Chapmen, orphaned at 5 after witnessing the murder of his parents at the hands of a Santa suit-clad madman on Christmas Eve. Now 18 and out of the brutal grip of orphanage nuns, Billy is forced to confront his greatest fear, sending him on a rampage, leaving a crimson trail in the snow behind him.

19. While She Was Out (2008)

A suburban housewife heads out for a quick trip to the local mall, only to find herself trapped in the forest and forced to fend for herself against four murderous hooligans.

18. P2 (2007)

Angela, a corporate climber, gets stuck working late on Christmas Eve and finds herself the target of an unhinged security guard. With no help in sight, the woman must overcome physical and psychological challenges to survive.

17. Red Christmas (2017)

Matriarch Diane has invited her children to celebrate one last Christmas in their family home. Amid celebrations and domestic drama, they receive a visit from a mysterious stranger.

16. Wind Chill (2007)

During Christmas break, a young woman catches a ride home from a stranger she meets through a college ride board. Racing to beat a severe winter storm, the two young travelers take a shortcut down a remote country road, only to find themselves forced into a snow bank by a mysterious vehicle that engages them in a dangerous game of chicken.

15. Saint (2011)

Saint Nicholas is not the good-hearted children’s friend as people think he is. In reality he is a cruel bloodthirsty bishop who, whenever there’s a full moon on Dec. 5, will try to slaughter as many children as possible.

A group of orphans visiting the home of a wealthy, retired singer discover that the woman is hiding a disturbing secret.

Barb and Jess are lonely sorority sisters who are having a Christmas party in their sorority house during the Christmas break. Peter is a mad-killer who terrorizes the women by making threatening telephone calls.

A relaxing Christmas vacation turns into a terrifying fight for survival as the children begin to turn on their parents.

A deranged department-store Santa becomes a cold-blooded killer in this taut psycho-thriller that spends time looking back at the poor fellow’s life.

3. Gremlins (1984)

“Don’t expose him to bright light. Don’t ever get him wet. And don’t ever, ever feed him after midnight.” This sage advice is ignored midway through Gremlins, with devastating results.

2. Better Watch Out (2017)

Babysitter Ashley must defend her young charges when intruders break into the house one snowy night, or so she thinks.

1. Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010)

It’s the eve of Christmas in northern Finland, and an ‘archeological’ dig has just unearthed the real Santa Claus. But this particular Santa isn’t the one you want coming to town.
