For this year’s 31 Nights of Horror Challenge, the Day 7 prompt was Rob Zombie. Zombie is one of my favorite concerts and I like his movies, while most do not. For today’ prompt I could have chosen Halloween but that comes up later in the month or I could have chosen Rejects or Corpses or even The Munsters but we wanted to watch things we dont see all of the time, so we went with 3 From Hell (2019)
Storyline
After being imprisoned for 10 years, the “Devil’s Rejects” are back at it again. Otis (Bill Moseley) escapes prison, meets Winslow (Richard Brake), and devises a plan to get his sister Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie) out too. The Rejects make their way down the road and into Mexico, killing countless people on their way. They find a place to stay, but are soon bombarded with a large group of killers- killers who are after these Three From Hell. Only one group can come out alive, and with the experience these three have, it’ll just have to be one great killing joyride.
Our Thoughts of 3 From Hell
Right off of the bat I do not remember his movie being so gory. Of course Zombie is known for his over the top but this one is it. By far his most graphic movie. We saw this movie in the theater when it came out and the unrated version was the one available on Amazon Prime Video so we went with that.
I really like this one. I think it ties up the Rejects saga nicely. It is too bad that old Sig was in it for only a few minutes. It I my understanding that he was very ill and died during the production of this.
Right off of the bat you see a lot of Charles Manson influences in this movie, especially during the opening sequence and all of the prison scenes. It looks like Zombie took a lot of the old footage of the Manson family and re-worked it into this.
6.5 out of 10
