For this year’s 31 Nights of Horror Challenge, the Day 20 prompt is Lovecraftian. We watched the movie,The Void on Amazon Prime.
Storyline
When Sheriff Deputy Carter (Aaron Poole) discovers a blood-soaked man limping down a deserted road, he rushes him to a local hospital with a barebones, night shift staff. As cloaked, cult-like figures surround the building, the patients and staff inside start to turn ravenously insane. Trying to protect the survivors, Carter leads them into the depths of the hospital where they discover a gateway to immense evil.
Our Thoughts on The Void (2016)
This is not my type of horror movie at all. While I love John Carpenter’s The Thing, which this can be compared to, but in a hospital versus Antarctica, it just doesn’t work. Its too trippy and hard to follow. This is by far the goriest of of the movies we have watched this year and that is not a good thing.

Trivia
Hardly anything in the film is CGI. All of the monsters, gore, etc are real effects created by the team behind the movie.
Near the beginning, a patient is watching Night of the Living Dead (1968), which was directed by George A. Romero.
