Quarterback

Fortos Fantasy Football: Week 10 round up

November 18, 2011 by robertforto Leave a Comment

Week 10 proved to be a great week for the team managers in Forto’s Fantasy Football. Nicole’s Qyainators and Russell’s Wildcats are battling for second place and the other teams are not far behind. As we turn into the home stretch some of the most popular (ie. point getters) are going down with injuries and causing the team managers to make trades at key positions like Quarterback and Running Back.

Team Updates

Jinx: Fantasy super-star Vick and the supposed “Dream Team” this year are going down in flames. Their fourth quarter performances this year have all but sealed their fate in the NFC. Vick supposedly broke two ribs in the beginning series of the game Sunday and did not tell his coach about it until afterwards. Maybe that is the reason why he only earned me 10 points. Two of his star receivers earned the big GOOSE EGG. Jackson did not even play because he slept through at meeting and my guy, Maclin didn’t do anything. I have been saved week to week by breakout performances by Texans running back Arian Foster.

Qyainators: With just eight points separating second from third place Nicole’s Qyainators are poised to make a run down the stretch. With one of the best one-two punches in the game with Brady and Welker, Nicole will be tough to beat. Her defense continues to put up huge numbers and with the annual turkey day game being played by her Cowboys she will head into the last quarter of the season on a high note (hopefully).

Wildcats: Russell’s Wildcats are on fire! With a almost unheard of 30 point performance by his Chicago defense, the Wildcats are surely to give the Qyainators a running for second place bragging rights in the coming weeks. I am sure Russell would love to have his name engraved on the coveted Forto’s Fantasy Football trophy, too.

Dreamchaser: Michele’s Dreamchaser put up a solid 85 point performance in Week 10 with great games by her QB, Brees and her two top wide receivers: Bryant and Nelson. It doesn’t hurt that her Kicker, the Bears Gould put up a 16 point performance this week against the Lions. Michele is not out of it yet! We still have 6 weeks of football left and anything can happen at anytime!

Juneau: Tyler’s Juneau are in fifth place but that does not mean he is down and out. In a season plagued by injuries, Juneau is figuring out what it takes to play fantasy football. He did have a great Week 10 with his Tight End, the Patriots Gronkowski earning him a whopping 23 points! When you have Tom Brady throwing you the ball anything is possible!

Chargers: Sadly we must report that Kyle and his Chargers team seem to look like they are no longer interested in playing in the league. He was having a very good year, often earning high points without even filling out his roster….

Fortos Fantasy Football: Week 5 round up

October 11, 2011 by robertforto Leave a Comment

The Forto’s Fantasy Football season is in full swing! My team, Jinx took over the lead this week from my daughter, Nicole (Qyainators), not because of spectacular play by my guys but consistent play from all of them. As we head into the second week of the bye weeks and injuries are still, and always will be, an issue it is time for the team managers to think about their status for the stretch.

Team Updates

Jinx: With two of my top point getters, Texans WR Andre Johnson (injury) and Raven RB Ray Rice (Bye) out this week I had to do some creative switching around but luckily I had solid play from my QB, Vick and Lions WR Calvin Johnson’s 73 yard TD pass on Monday night to earn his team a 5-0 start for the first time since 1956. Are the Lions for real? Do you think they will lose before their annual turkey day game against the Super Bowl Champs, the Packers. It could be their year!

Qyainators: Nicole’s QB and one of her WRs and RBs consistently put up numbers in the teens or more. This was not a break out week for her superstars as they put up huge numbers the first quarter of he season. What hurt her this week was one of her WR, the Bucs Mike Williams earned a goose egg and her Defense, Tampa lost points (-2). That being said both of these players do play on the same team and they got taken to the cleaners in a 48-3 whipping by the 49ers.

Chargers: Kyle’s team still is holding strong in third but he still does not have a full roster. There is a saying: play em’ till the wheels fall off. Well if Kyle doesn’t do something soon he will have go to Coscto real quick and buy a new set of rubber.

Wildcats: Russell’s Wildcats had a great week with a solid performance from his QB, the Giants Eli Manning (23 points) and two great outings by his running back and a wide receiver; a record setting day by the Vikings super-star Peterson with 30 points and a 24 point performance by the Chiefs Bowe.

Dreamchaser: The bye week killed Michele’s team, Dreamchaser. She had three players on the off week that earned her no points at all. The good thing is now most of her top players have had their off week and she should be set for the season, she is in 5th place and 133 points behind first. There is still two and a months of ball to be played and if she is careful she still has a run at the title.

Juneau: Tyler’s team is one of those teams that “looks good on paper.” He has the talent on his roster but his players are consistently under-performing. I think Tyler picks a lot of his players because he likes them as players–just like any 17 year old male would do–but that does not win fantasy leagues. In this league performance wins trophies not flash. This is a stats driven league. Juneau is 177 point out of first place but this is the year of the Lion’s right? A little advice, son, re-vamp the whole team. Pay real close attention to the ‘Projected Points’ column on the iPhone app. If a player has projected points of less than 15 don’t play him. I do think Juneau can recover if he takes the time to tweak his roster otherwise it will be a long year…

Fortos Fantasy Football: Week 2 round up

September 21, 2011 by robertforto Leave a Comment

The Forto’s Fantasy Football season is in full swing! Nicole (Qyainators) has a hold on first place going into week 3 with a 21 point lead over her dad (me, Jinx). Everyone did very with all teams earning more than 90 points.

Team Updates

Qyainators: Nicoles team is on a hot streak with he best QB in the league, Tom Brady. He earned 28 points this week in his win over the Chargers. With two of her players not performing at all RB Willams of the Bucs at 0 points and WR Welker of the Pats at just 2, the Qyainators go into week 3 very strong.

Jinx: My team performed very well despite having my QB, Vick (Eagles) go down in the 3rd quarter of the Sunday Night game against the Falcons. I am not sure if he will be available in week 3 versus the Giants but I have a solid back-up in Matt Ryan.

Chargers: Kyle’s team is doing very well with solid performances by his QB, Rodgers (Packers) earning 21 points and the Chargers WR, Jackson putting up spectacular numbers with 29 points.

Dreamchaser: Michele’s team is a close 4th place with the Chargers with only two points separating her from third place. In fact there is only a six point differential between third place and 6th. Brees did very well in week 2 earning 22 points along with a break-out performance from the Raider RB Darren McFadden earning a whopping 39 points! But the surprise of the week was the 21 point performance by her kicker, Bears Robbie Gould earning 21 points. This is almost unheard of in fantasy football. It usually tells you two things: either the team he plays for is terrible, or you made one heck of a pick! Either way Dreamchaser is doing very well.

Juneau: Tyler’s rookie gamble is still paying off with another great week by his QB, Panthers Cam Newton earning him a well above average 29 points and a great week by the Cowboys WR Miles Austin earning him a cool 32 points but getting injured in the game.

Wildcats: Russell’s Wildcats are in last place with 177 points but like I said only 6 points separate him from a third place finish in week 2. His main RB, Vikings Peterson had a great week with 26 points and his QB, the Chargers Rivers topping out at 20 still make him a top ten gunslinger in the league.

Things will start to get interesting this week with several top performers on our teams down with injuries. Jinx still hasn’t played his number one pick, Texans RB Foster who was his top point getter in 2010. Other teams need to pay attention to the injury reports that are released on Thursday and be careful with “game time” decisions. In fantasy football that almost always means, sit him out that week.
