Fortos Fantasy Football: Week 9 round up

November 8, 2011 by robertforto 2 Comments

It is week nine in the National Football League and that means that Forto’s Fantasy Football is at the half way point. While there is still a lot of football to be played, the team owners need to remain cognizant of player injuries as well as playing their players that offer the most bang for the buck. Hopefully by now the team owners have realized that Fantasy Football is not about their favorite players or teams but about performance on the field.

It always amazes me that some of the most popular players have such terrible seasons in fantasy football. Just look at players like Tim Tebow, Chad Ochocinco, Chris Johnson, and even Donavan McNabb.

Team Updates

Jinx: Heading into the second half I am still sticking with 90% of the roster that I started with. With the exception a poor performance by Vick and Maclin in a dismal Monday Night game versus the Bears, I did have a very good week by my running backs.

Qyainators: Nicole is holding strong in second place but Russell’s Wildcats are moving up fast. In fact, after week 7, the Wildcats were in second place! The Qyainators did have a good week by her defense, The Cowboys in a 13 point performance against the Seahawks.

Wildcats: Russell’s Wildcats had a solid 87 point week and solid third place in the league. As I said, Nicole had better watch out, one bad week by one of her players or a good week by one of the Wildcats and we have a strong running for second place.

Dreamchaser: Michele’s Dreamchaser had a very good 98 point week after a lot of roster changes after Week 8.

Chargers: Kyle had a great 110 point week and he is not even putting forth an effort.

Juneau: Tyler made a big mistake this week. He forgot to move his quarterback, the Panthers rookie phenom Cam Newton off the bye week! Hopefully next week Juneau has a great week. I am sure he will be thankful that the bye weeks are almost over.

Fortos Fantasy Football: Week 7 round up

October 25, 2011 by robertforto Leave a Comment

We are heading into the second half of the season in Forto’s Fantasy Football. The standings are the same as last week but that does not discount the moves and trades that are happening with a flurry, especially with Tyler’s Juneau.

Team Updates

Jinx: It was the bye week for most of my team. All of my bug point getters were off this weeks except one: Arian Foster the Texan’s superstar running back. He earned me a whopping 40 points this week and brought me a solid first place position that just might be hard to beat.

Qyainators: One thing’s for sure, Nicole IS my daughter! Her team was also all on the off week and she traded and moved her players around accordingly. While she struggled this week and it was to be expected with all of her bench players trying to earn her a top spot, she is only 64 points behind her dad.

Wildcats: Russell’s Wildcats had another great week! Be careful, Nicole or the Wildcats will tangle with the Qyainators for second! Russell had a great performance by his running backs: the Vikings, Peterson and the Bears, Forte each earning him 23 points.

Dreamchaser: Injuries still continue to hurt Michele’s team. Both of her running backs earned her a big fat goose egg but her QB, the Saints, Brees had a great game with 33 points.

Chargers: There is a reason why the Packers are the Super Bowl Champs and why Aaron Rodgers is the top QB in the league. Kyle’s one-two punch with Rodgers and WR Jennings continue to pay dividends but they are heading into a bye week next week. We will see what happens to the Chargers in week 8.

Juneau: Tyler: C’Mon Man! what happened? You had 6 players on bye week and you didnt move anyone from your bench. That hurts. I know he will pay attention this week.

Fortos Fantasy Football: Week 5 round up

October 11, 2011 by robertforto Leave a Comment

The Forto’s Fantasy Football season is in full swing! My team, Jinx took over the lead this week from my daughter, Nicole (Qyainators), not because of spectacular play by my guys but consistent play from all of them. As we head into the second week of the bye weeks and injuries are still, and always will be, an issue it is time for the team managers to think about their status for the stretch.

Team Updates

Jinx: With two of my top point getters, Texans WR Andre Johnson (injury) and Raven RB Ray Rice (Bye) out this week I had to do some creative switching around but luckily I had solid play from my QB, Vick and Lions WR Calvin Johnson’s 73 yard TD pass on Monday night to earn his team a 5-0 start for the first time since 1956. Are the Lions for real? Do you think they will lose before their annual turkey day game against the Super Bowl Champs, the Packers. It could be their year!

Qyainators: Nicole’s QB and one of her WRs and RBs consistently put up numbers in the teens or more. This was not a break out week for her superstars as they put up huge numbers the first quarter of he season. What hurt her this week was one of her WR, the Bucs Mike Williams earned a goose egg and her Defense, Tampa lost points (-2). That being said both of these players do play on the same team and they got taken to the cleaners in a 48-3 whipping by the 49ers.

Chargers: Kyle’s team still is holding strong in third but he still does not have a full roster. There is a saying: play em’ till the wheels fall off. Well if Kyle doesn’t do something soon he will have go to Coscto real quick and buy a new set of rubber.

Wildcats: Russell’s Wildcats had a great week with a solid performance from his QB, the Giants Eli Manning (23 points) and two great outings by his running back and a wide receiver; a record setting day by the Vikings super-star Peterson with 30 points and a 24 point performance by the Chiefs Bowe.

Dreamchaser: The bye week killed Michele’s team, Dreamchaser. She had three players on the off week that earned her no points at all. The good thing is now most of her top players have had their off week and she should be set for the season, she is in 5th place and 133 points behind first. There is still two and a months of ball to be played and if she is careful she still has a run at the title.

Juneau: Tyler’s team is one of those teams that “looks good on paper.” He has the talent on his roster but his players are consistently under-performing. I think Tyler picks a lot of his players because he likes them as players–just like any 17 year old male would do–but that does not win fantasy leagues. In this league performance wins trophies not flash. This is a stats driven league. Juneau is 177 point out of first place but this is the year of the Lion’s right? A little advice, son, re-vamp the whole team. Pay real close attention to the ‘Projected Points’ column on the iPhone app. If a player has projected points of less than 15 don’t play him. I do think Juneau can recover if he takes the time to tweak his roster otherwise it will be a long year…
