Tonight’s film is a classic. It is directed by John Carpenter of (the original) Halloween fame. It is about a alien monster that attempts to take over a remote American Antarctic outpost led by Kurt Russell, fresh off his Escape from New York success, the Quaker Oatmeal man and the guy that played the captain the the 1980s TV cop show, Hunter.

This movie is scary. It had my wife and daughter screaming in their seats.

Despite the horror success at the theater, it was released very shortly after another alien movie, E.T. in 1982, people flocked to see the little monster that drank coca-cola and ate Reese’s Pieces not the one that ingested sled dogs, Carpenter says that this is favorite movie he ever made.
