NaBloPoMo: Do you wish the start of the year was in a different season? Which one?

I am participating in NaBloPoMo again this month on one of the most popular online blogging sites in the world; BlogHer. I know, I know guys what you are saying. A site for ladies?

I am 100% comfortable in my own skin. I am not like Lady GaGa nor do I wear silk but my wife has called me a metro from time to time. Go figure.

Anyhow, the topic for today is: Do you wish the start of the year was in a different season? Which one?

In one word. No.

I did read somewhere that some crackpot is trying to change the calendar (again) so that holidays always fall on the same day of the year. His name is Richard Conn Henry and he is an applied physics professor at Johns Hopkins. His proposal would go something like this:

Christmas would always fall on a Sunday

Halloween would change to October 30 and always fall on a Monday

No more leap year

March, June, September and December would all have 31 days

This is just crazy! I like my birthday to be on a different day each year. Don’t you? What about those people that have a birthday on say, July 31st? What would happen to them?

We haven’t messed with the calendar since 1582 when we switched to the Gregorian from the Julian one.

Leave well enough alone, already. We have more important things to worry about don’t we? Like laundry to pick up at the dry cleaners and the car needs a tune up. It seems to me that ole professor Henry is taking continuing education credits from his mentor on Gilligan’s Island. What was his name? Roy? Oh wait. He wasn’t a professor at all. He was a high school science teacher.
